Genuine Ford 4WD auto-locking hub actuator, the integrated wheel-end engagement unit, for 15-21 F-150 with 4WD and hub lock, 16-18 Expedition, and 16-18 Lincoln Navigator with 4WD or AWD. This unit supersedes GL1Z-3C247-A. The actuator is the vacuum-driven mechanism at the front wheel end that engages and disengages the front axle stub shaft from the wheel hub, allowing the vehicle to operate in 2WD without spinning the front driveshaft and to engage 4WD when the system commands it. When the actuator fails the symptoms include a 4WD warning lamp, 4WD that engages but does not transfer torque to the front wheels, or in some cases noise from the front wheel area at speed as the actuator partially engages. The Ford-supplied unit is the OEM service replacement and carries the correct mounting flange, vacuum port, and internal seal arrangement for the application. Sold individually as a left or right side.
