• Description:

  This genuine Ford part is the automatic transmission valve body separator plate and gasket assembly used on 2015-2022 Ford applications including F-150, Expedition, Mustang, F-250 and F-350 Super Duty, Transit and the Lincoln Navigator. The plate sits between the upper and lower halves of the valve body and is the hydraulic circuit board of the transmission: its calibrated orifices, checkball seats and bonded gasket layers route line pressure to the correct clutch and band circuits, meter apply and release rates, and keep adjacent passages isolated from each other. When the bonded gasket layers erode, when the plate is scored, or when debris from a failing clutch pack cuts a cross-leak between passages, hydraulic pressure bleeds where it should not go and the driver feels delayed engagement into drive or reverse, harsh or slipping upshifts, shift flare, shudder, or a transmission that drops into failsafe with pressure or ratio codes stored. This assembly supersedes the earlier FL3Z-7Z490-A. The plate is a matched hydraulic calibration, so it must be selected for the exact transmission build rather than by year alone, and the surfaces of both valve body halves must be clean, flat and free of old gasket material. Install it dry, follow the Ford tightening sequence and torque specification, keep the checkballs and separator plate orientation correct, and refill with the specified Motorcraft automatic transmission fluid before checking level at the correct temperature.
