This genuine Ford FL3Z-6C681-A is a cooling-system insulator, cataloged by Ford as an Insulator and also referred to as an inter-cooler upper or lower insulator, auxiliary radiator insulator, or fan-shroud isolator. It is a molded rubber mounting grommet that cushions and locates the charge-air intercooler, auxiliary radiator or cooling fan assembly against the support structure, isolating vibration and preventing rattle, chafing and stress cracking of the mounted component. It is used on 2.7L, 2.3L, 3.0L and 3.5L EcoBoost intercooler installations and on 5.2L auxiliary radiator applications, spanning F-150 EcoBoost trucks from about 2015 through 2023 and shared with related Ford EcoBoost platforms. A missing, torn, hardened or compressed insulator allows the intercooler or radiator to shift, causing buzzing or rattling noise, movement under load, and possible fatigue damage to brackets or the cooler itself. Included as part of the auxiliary radiator and intercooler fan assemblies from the factory, this isolator is molded to Ford specifications for the correct fit and durometer. Confirm the upper-versus-lower or left-versus-right position and your specific engine and cooler configuration against the Ford illustration before installation, and inspect mating tabs and pins during service.
