• Description:

  This is a genuine Ford front ABS wheel speed sensor for the 15-23 F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator across 2WD, 4WD, and RWD configurations, supersedes earlier revision JL3Z-2C204-A. The sensor measures the rotational speed of the front wheel through a magnetic interaction with the tone ring integrated into the wheel hub and bearing assembly, reporting wheel speed to the ABS module for use in antilock braking, traction control, stability control, and any related vehicle dynamics systems. The sensor is included with the hub and bearing on this generation truck, but the standalone sensor is also available for service when the hub and bearing are not being replaced. Failure modes include physical damage to the sensor housing from off-pavement contact, internal sensor failure from age and thermal cycling, harness damage from chronic flexing as the wheel articulates, and connector corrosion at the chassis harness interface. Symptoms include ABS, traction control, or stability control warning lights, fault codes pointing to the affected front wheel speed sensor, intermittent ABS activation on dry roads, brake pedal feel changes during certain driving conditions, and in some cases speedometer behavior anomalies.
