• Description:

  The Motorcraft YG-810 A/C expansion valve is the genuine Ford thermal expansion valve that meters high-pressure liquid refrigerant into the evaporator core on 2015 through 2023 Ford Mustang models with the 3.7L V6, 5.0L Coyote V8, or 5.2L Voodoo V8, and it corresponds to Ford part FR3Z-19849-F, which supersedes the earlier -A and -D versions. It is used on these V6 and V8 Mustangs but not on the 2.3L EcoBoost, which uses a different valve. The valve senses evaporator outlet temperature and pressure and modulates refrigerant flow so the evaporator delivers maximum cooling without flooding or starving. A stuck, clogged, or failed expansion valve produces weak or no cold air, frost or icing on the evaporator or lines, hissing or gurgling noises, erratic vent temperatures, or abnormal high- and low-side pressures. When servicing this valve, renew the connection seals, lubricate them with the correct refrigerant oil, then evacuate and recharge the system to the Ford specification. Fitting the correct Motorcraft expansion valve restores proper refrigerant metering and full cooling performance.
