• Description:

  This is the genuine Ford fuel tank lock ring, also cataloged as a retaining ring, for 2015 and newer Mustang models across the 2.3L EcoBoost, 3.7L V6, 5.0L GT, and 5.2L engine offerings. The ring cams over the top of the fuel pump and sending unit module where it enters the fuel tank, clamping the module and its gasket tightly against the tank flange to create a sealed, vapor-tight joint that holds fuel and EVAP pressure. It is the component that locks the in-tank fuel pump assembly in place. Buyers need this part when the original ring is corroded, cracked, cross-threaded, or distorted, or when a broken or damaged ring is discovered during fuel pump or sending unit replacement and prevents the module from sealing. Symptoms of a poor seal include fuel odor, fuel or vapor leakage at the top of the tank, and EVAP or fuel-system trouble codes. Always fit a new fuel pump module seal ring and gasket along with the lock ring, seat the module and gasket squarely, and tighten the ring evenly to the correct orientation so the sealing surface is not pinched or distorted.
