Genuine Ford OEM engine variable valve timing solenoid and oil control valve part number HL3Z-6M280-A, the electronic actuator that controls oil flow to the variable cam phasers. This solenoid is a broadly applicable cross-platform part fitting 15-25 Ford F-150 with the 3.5L EcoBoost intake camshaft phasers, 18-25 Expedition with the 3.5L EcoBoost, 18-25 Mustang with the 5.0L Coyote, 15-25 Transit Connect 2.0L vans, 17-22 Ford GT with the 3.5L EcoBoost, and 18-25 Lincoln Navigator with the 3.5L EcoBoost. The solenoid includes the integrated oil control valve as a single assembly. Replacement is appropriate when the engine reports cam timing error codes, when rough idle or hesitation symptoms develop, or when the solenoid sticks open or closed and prevents normal phaser operation. The solenoid mounts to the cylinder head with a single retaining bolt and seals via a press-fit O-ring at the oil passage. Ford recommends new O-rings and clean oil on the seal during installation. Genuine Ford solenoids match the factory electrical characteristics that the engine control module expects during normal operation. Ships in original Ford packaging with the standard Ford limited parts warranty.
