  This genuine Ford strut mount, cataloged as a Mounting Assembly and commonly called the upper strut mount, is the original-equipment top mount for the front strut on the 2016-2018 Ford Focus. It bolts the top of the strut assembly to the body and forms the pivot point where the strut meets the chassis, isolating road noise and vibration through its bonded rubber and incorporating the bearing surface that lets the strut and coil spring rotate with the steering. A worn strut mount produces clunking or knocking over bumps, a groaning or binding feel and notchy return when turning the wheel, uneven or accelerated tire wear, and increased harshness through the steering. Replacing it restores quiet, smooth suspension operation and correct front-end geometry. It is good practice to renew the strut mount whenever the front struts are replaced and to service both sides together for balanced handling.
