  This is a genuine Ford high note horn assembly, part number FA1Z-13801-A, for the 2016 through 2018 Lincoln MKX. Ford uses a dual-horn system in which a high-pitch and a low-pitch unit sound together to produce the vehicle's full, layered warning tone, and this component is the high note unit. Mounted behind the front fascia, the electromagnetic horn converts battery voltage into a vibrating diaphragm tone whenever the steering wheel horn switch is pressed. When a horn fails, the driver hears a weak, buzzing, off-key, or completely silent horn, or only one of the two notes sounding, which is both an annoyance and a safety concern that will also fail a state inspection. Corrosion at the connector, internal contact wear, or physical damage from road spray and debris are the usual causes.
