This genuine Ford Steering Wheel Radio Controls switch is the right-hand steering wheel switch pad used on the 2016 through 2019 Ford Explorer and Police Interceptor Utility. Mounted on the passenger side spoke of the steering wheel, it carries the audio and multimedia controls including volume, seek and track, source, and voice or phone functions, letting the driver operate the radio and infotainment system without reaching for the center stack. It communicates through the clockspring to the audio and body control modules. A failing switch produces buttons that no longer respond, volume or track controls that stick or repeat, intermittent operation, or complete loss of steering wheel audio control. Button membrane wear, a cracked contact board, or a damaged clockspring connection are common causes. This Motorcraft-quality component installs as a direct replacement and restores full thumb control of the audio system. Disconnect the battery and observe airbag precautions before servicing the steering wheel. Backed by the Ford and Motorcraft limited parts warranty.
