  This is a genuine Ford engine intake manifold gasket for the 3.2L diesel five-cylinder used in the Transit-250 and Transit-350 HD vans. The gasket seals the intake manifold to the cylinder head so intake air, and on a turbo diesel the boosted charge air, is delivered to the cylinders without leaking. A sound intake seal maintains correct airflow and boost pressure and prevents unmetered air, vacuum leaks, and loss of charge pressure that would hurt performance and economy. Owners replace this gasket during intake manifold removal, EGR or intake service, or head work, and when chasing a boost leak, rough running, reduced power, or a whistle or hiss from the intake on the 3.2L diesel. A failed or distorted intake gasket can let charge air escape and unmetered air enter, upsetting the air-fuel balance and triggering driveability complaints. Built to Ford specifications for the 3.2L diesel, the gasket provides the correct port shape, bolt pattern, and sealing material to seat between the manifold and head without modification.
