This genuine Ford Motorcraft idler pulley guides the accessory drive belt around the engine and maintains correct belt routing and tension in the upper position, serving the lower alternator belt circuit on dual-belt applications. It rides on a sealed, maintenance-free ball bearing and spins freely with the belt. It fits 2016-2025 Ford F-150 equipped with the 5.0L V8, in single- or dual-alternator configurations. When the idler bearing wears or dries out, symptoms include a squeal, chirp, grinding or rattling from the front of the engine, a rumble that changes with rpm, belt vibration or slippage, and a pulley that spins roughly or wobbles when turned by hand. A seizing idler can throw or shred the accessory belt and stop belt-driven accessories. Replace this idler together with the drive belt, verify free and quiet rotation, and confirm proper belt alignment before returning the truck to service.
