• Description:

  This genuine Ford valve cover gasket, base number 6584, seals the passenger-side valve rocker arm cover to the cylinder head on the 6.8L V10 gasoline engine used in F-250 through F-550 Super Duty trucks. The gasket runs the perimeter of the right valve cover, keeping pressurized engine oil contained within the valvetrain while sealing out dirt and air at the cover-to-head joint. Under the heat cycling of the high-output V10, the gasket maintains the seal so oil does not weep down the side of the engine and onto the exhaust. Owners and technicians need this part when tracing an external oil leak from the right valve cover, correcting a burning-oil smell from oil reaching hot exhaust, or finding oil in the spark plug wells, all classic signs of a hardened or crushed valve cover gasket. It is replaced whenever the cover is removed for spark plug, coil, or PCV service, or specifically to cure an oil leak.
