  This genuine Ford Motorcraft vapor canister is the charcoal-filled evaporative emissions (EVAP) storage canister that captures fuel vapor from the tank and holds it until the engine draws it back in to be burned, keeping raw fuel vapor out of the atmosphere. It is the original-equipment canister for Ford Super Duty trucks built from 2017 through 2019, specifically F-250 and F-350 models with the 6.2L gas engine and the mid-ship fuel tank configuration on the longer-wheelbase chassis. When the canister cracks, saturates, or its internal charcoal breaks down, the EVAP system can no longer store and purge vapor correctly, which commonly triggers a check engine light with EVAP or purge-flow trouble codes, a fuel odor around the vehicle, a failed emissions test, or a hard start after refueling. A saturated canister can also cause driveability issues if liquid fuel is pulled into the purge path. This Motorcraft unit is the factory-correct storage canister and matches the original mounting, port sizes, and connections so the EVAP system seals and purges as designed.
