  This genuine Ford evaporative emissions charcoal vapor canister collects and stores fuel vapor from the fuel tank and delivers it to the engine to be burned, preventing hydrocarbon vapor from escaping to the atmosphere as part of the EVAP system. Inside the housing, activated carbon adsorbs vapor while the truck is parked and gives it up when the purge valve opens and intake vacuum pulls the vapor forward into the engine for combustion. It fits 2017-2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty gasoline applications and sits in the fuel-vapor storage circuit between the tank and the purge line. When the canister becomes fuel-soaked, cracked, or internally damaged, the powertrain control module commonly sets EVAP diagnostic trouble codes for small or large system leaks or purge-flow problems and turns on the check-engine light; drivers may also detect a gasoline-vapor smell, notice a hard start right after fueling, or feel a brief rough idle as the purge event completes. Overfilling the tank past the automatic shutoff is a frequent cause of carbon saturation and canister failure.
