• Description:

  This genuine Ford valve cover gasket, base number 6584, seals the driver-side valve rocker arm cover to the cylinder head on the 6.8L V10 gasoline engine used in F-450 and F-550 Super Duty trucks. The gasket runs the perimeter of the left valve cover, containing pressurized engine oil within the valvetrain while sealing out dirt and air at the cover-to-head joint. As the cover heat-cycles under the high-output V10, the gasket holds the seal so oil does not weep down the side of the engine. Owners and technicians need this part when tracing an external oil leak from the valve cover, addressing a burning-oil smell from oil dripping onto hot exhaust, or finding oil in the spark plug wells, all symptoms of a hardened or crushed valve cover gasket. It is replaced whenever the valve cover is removed for spark plug, coil, or PCV service, or specifically to cure an oil leak. Manufactured to Ford specifications, it restores the original sealing profile and resists oil and heat over repeated thermal cycles.
