This genuine Ford Motorcraft idler pulley guides the accessory drive belt around the engine and maintains correct belt routing and wrap over the alternator, air conditioning compressor and other belt-driven accessories. It rides on a sealed, maintenance-free ball bearing and spins with the belt. It fits 2017-2020 Ford F-150, Expedition and Lincoln Navigator equipped with the 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V6, built from 09/26/2016. A worn or failing idler bearing is a leading cause of drive-belt noise, so symptoms include a squeal, chirp or grinding from the front of the engine, a rumble that changes with rpm, belt wobble or slippage, and a pulley that turns roughly or wobbles by hand. A seized idler can throw or shred the belt and disable belt-driven accessories. Replace this idler along with the accessory belt, verify free and quiet rotation, and confirm proper belt alignment on installation.
