• Description:

  This is the Genuine Ford integrated wheel end vacuum tube for 17-21 F-150 4WD applications. The IWE system is the front-axle disconnect arrangement that uses engine vacuum to engage or disengage the front wheel hubs so that the front axles do not spin in 2WD, reducing parasitic loss and front driveline wear when 4WD is not commanded. The vacuum tube is the dedicated line that delivers manifold vacuum from the engine bay to the front hub solenoid and to the wheel ends themselves. Tube integrity is everything on this system. A small leak or a hardened fitting can cause partial engagement, the well-known clunking or grinding noise from the front of the truck during cold drive-aways or on bumpy roads in 2WD, and ultimately premature IWE failure. This Genuine Ford line is formed and clipped to match the original chassis routing, with sealing fittings at both ends. Replacement is best done with the engine cool and the front of the truck supported, and after install the IWE system should be commanded through 2WD-4WD cycles with the truck stationary on a smooth surface to verify clean engagement and disengagement at the hubs.
