This Motorcraft engine coolant thermostat controls warm-up and operating temperature on Ford's 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V6, staying closed while the engine is cold so coolant circulates through the block, then opening at its calibrated set point to route flow through the radiator and hold a steady temperature under boost. It is supplied with its thermostat housing as an integrated assembly and fits 2017-2020 Ford F-150 and 2018-2022 Expedition and Navigator with the 3.5L turbocharged engine built from late 2016. Precise temperature control matters on a boosted engine for knock margin, fuel trims, and turbo longevity. A thermostat stuck open leaves the engine cold, cutting economy and heater performance and setting an insufficient-warm-up code, while one stuck closed causes rapid overheating, coolant loss, and possible head or gasket damage. Replace it at the first sign of erratic gauge readings, a cold-running complaint, or housing seepage. Fit the assembly against a clean sealing face, refill with the specified coolant, and bleed trapped air so it opens correctly. Genuine Ford Motorcraft part.
