  This is a genuine Ford differential pinion bearing spacer for 17-22 F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty rear differentials. The spacer (also called a crush sleeve) sits between the front and rear pinion bearings on the pinion shaft and controls bearing preload when the pinion nut is torqued. Common reasons for replacement include any differential service that requires removing the pinion nut, since the crush sleeve must be replaced any time it is removed (it cannot be reused). Replacement is required during pinion seal replacement, ring and pinion gear set replacement, pinion bearing replacement, and complete differential rebuild service. Symptoms of an incorrectly set or worn spacer include rear differential noise (whine on acceleration or coast), pinion seal leakage from incorrect preload, and visible play at the pinion yoke.
