• Description:

  This Motorcraft lower steering shaft links the steering column to the steering gear on Super Duty trucks, carrying the driver's turning input through its universal joints for direct, accurate wheel control under heavy loads. It is the lower shaft assembly for 2017 through 2022 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty models and is manufactured to genuine Ford OEM specifications for spline count, length, and joint strength. Worn universal joints or a loose slip section typically produce steering play, a clunk or pop felt through the wheel over bumps and during low-speed maneuvers, notchy or gritty steering effort, and knocking sounds from the lower column area. Because these trucks generate high steering loads, a deteriorating shaft should be replaced promptly to preserve safe, responsive control. The assembly installs between the column output and the gear input using its clamp joints. The upper and lower pinch bolts are single-use fasteners that must be replaced with new hardware and torqued to Ford specification during installation; do not reinstall the original bolts, since they are engineered to be clamped only once.
