This is the genuine Ford Motorcraft diesel fuel tank filler cap, cataloged as Cap Assembly Fuel Tank Filler under part number FC-1091 and superseding to HC3Z-9030-D. It fits 2017 through 2022 Ford F-250 F-350 F-450 and F-550 Super Duty trucks equipped with the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel engine. This is the tethered, large-bore diesel version of the filler cap; its wide sealing flange is keyed to the diesel filler neck and is engineered to help prevent accidental misfueling with gasoline. The cap seals the diesel fuel and evaporative system, keeps out dirt and water, and allows the tank to vent correctly. A cracked, worn, or improperly sealing cap can trigger a loose fuel cap warning message, an evaporative or fuel system fault code, or allow contamination to reach the tank. Because the diesel and gasoline caps are not interchangeable, verify that your Super Duty is a 6.7L diesel before ordering, as gasoline Super Duty and other gasoline Ford models use a different non-locking cap. The integral tether keeps the cap attached to the filler area during refueling so it is not misplaced or dropped.
