• Description:

  This is a genuine Ford electric parking brake motor or actuator for the 17-25 Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, F-150, and F-150 Lightning equipped with the electric parking brake feature. The actuator is the motor and gearbox subassembly that drives the parking brake mechanism inside the brake caliper, applying or releasing the parking brake in response to commands from the body control module or dedicated parking brake module. The actuator is replaceable separately from the rest of the caliper assembly on these vehicles, allowing service of the parking brake function without replacement of the entire caliper. Failure modes include motor winding failure that prevents the parking brake from engaging or releasing, gearbox damage from forced operation against a seized parking brake, electrical connector corrosion that produces intermittent operation, and water intrusion past the seal that shorts the motor. Symptoms include parking brake fault codes, inability to release the EPB through the dash switch, parking brake light remaining illuminated, audible noise from the EPB during engagement or release attempts, and in some cases the truck refusing to release from park due to the EPB-park-pawl interlock on certain transmissions. Replacement requires the EPB to be placed in service mode through a scan tool to retract the motor, careful disconnection of the harness connector, removal of mounting screws or bolts, and methodical reinstallation. Recalibrate the EPB through the scan tool after installation to ensure proper operation.
