Genuine Ford OEM C clutch friction plate part number HL3Z-7B164-A, also catalogued as Plate-Clutch Internal Spline or Drive Plate-Clutch, an internal clutch pack component of the 10R80 ten-speed automatic transmission. This plate fits 17-25 Ford F-150, 18-25 Mustang, 18-25 Expedition, 19-25 Ranger, and 18-25 Lincoln Navigator vehicles equipped with the 10R80 ten-speed automatic transmission. The plate is called out in Ford 10R80 technical service bulletin (TSB supersedes earlier revision) for C clutch service. Per the TSB, Ranger applications require 4 pieces while F-150, Mustang, Expedition, and Navigator applications require 5 pieces per service procedure. The friction plate carries paper-on-steel friction material on both faces and works with steel driven plates (HL3Z-7B442 series) to transmit clutch torque during C clutch engagement. Replacement is appropriate during transmission rebuild service when C clutch friction plates show wear, burn marks, or material loss. The plates are single-use parts. Installation requires the workshop assembly procedure for proper clutch pack stack-up and endplay verification. Ships in original Ford packaging with the standard Ford limited parts warranty.
