This is the genuine Motorcraft transmission oil filter kit for the 10R80 ten-speed automatic transmission. The filter and integral gasket mount to the valve body inside the pan and screen the fluid feeding the pump, solenoid body, and clutch assemblies, trapping wear debris and clutch particles before they can score internal passages or hang up the shift solenoids. It fits 2017 through 2025 Ford applications built on the 10R80, including F-150, Mustang, Expedition, Explorer, Ranger, and the Lincoln Navigator, as well as Police Interceptor Utility. Symptoms of a fouled filter or overdue service include harsh or delayed shifts, gear hunting, shudder at light throttle, slipping, whine, and rising fluid temperature. Ford catalogs this as Motorcraft FT-202, cross-referenced to service part HL3Z-7A098-A. Replace the filter whenever the pan is dropped or the fluid is serviced, use only the specified Motorcraft MERCON ULV fluid, and refill to the correct level using the temperature-controlled fill procedure. After service, complete any required adaptive learning relearn with a Ford-capable scan tool. The filter and its gasket are single-use and should not be reinstalled once removed.
