• Description:

  This Genuine Ford front crankshaft oil seal assembly fits 17-25 F-Super Duty trucks with the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel engine and is the current service supersession for the front crankshaft seal application. The seal sits in the front cover and runs on the crankshaft snout, retaining engine oil inside the timing chain and oil pump cavity while keeping atmospheric contamination out. A weeping or failed front crankshaft seal allows oil to drip down the front of the engine, contaminate the accessory drive belt and idler bearings, and reduce engine oil over time. non-OEM seals often use inferior lip rubber compounds or do not include the correct hydrodynamic surface texture, leading to early weeping or chatter. The seal is a one-time-use element; whenever the front cover, harmonic balancer, or crankshaft is disturbed, the seal should be replaced before reassembly. Use the correct seal installer tooling so the seal is driven square and to the proper depth, avoid contact with the lip rubber during installation, lightly oil the lip before installing the harmonic balancer, and torque the balancer center bolt to the published specification and angle stages.
