  This is a genuine Ford valve cover gasket for the F-150 equipped with the 5.0L V8, specifically the outer gasket variant used in the 5.0L engine's valve cover sealing system. The 5.0L Coyote engine uses both an outer main gasket that seals the perimeter of the valve cover to the cylinder head and additional spark plug well seals that prevent oil from contaminating the plug wells. The outer gasket addressed by this part number is the primary perimeter seal that controls oil retention along the perimeter of the cylinder head deck surface. Failure modes include compression set from age that allows the gasket to lose its sealing pressure, chemical attack from oil chemistry or contamination, mechanical damage from improper installation or removal, and broken or distorted gasket retention features.
