This is a genuine Ford front shock absorber assembly for the 18-20 F-150 across the broad fitment range of this generation truck, including the 2.7L EcoBoost, 3.0L diesel, 3.3L V6, 3.5L EcoBoost, and 5.0L V8 engine options across the trim hierarchy from XL through Limited. The shock absorber controls suspension oscillation, providing the damping force that returns the wheel to its at-rest position after road inputs and prevents the suspension from bouncing freely after bumps. A failed shock produces a range of symptoms including excessive body lean during cornering, a bouncing or floating ride quality over uneven surfaces, increased stopping distances on rough roads, uneven tire wear from chronic wheel hop, and visible fluid leakage on the shock body indicating internal seal failure. The genuine shock carries the correct damping curve calibrated to the F-150 suspension geometry and the truck's weight, payload, and intended use.
