• Description:

  This is a genuine Ford liftgate object sensor, an anti-pinch position sensor for the left-hand side of the power liftgate on the 2018 through 2021 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator. Mounted along the driver-side edge of the power liftgate, the sensor detects an obstruction or a person in the closing path and tells the liftgate control module to halt and reverse, guarding hands, pets, and cargo against being pinched as the gate closes. It is the left-side unit and operates in tandem with the right-hand sensor so both edges of the gate are protected. Buyers need this part when the power liftgate stalls partway, reverses unexpectedly, will not latch, sets an obstacle-detected or anti-pinch fault, or forces manual operation because the safety circuit has failed. A crushed or cracked sensor strip, moisture intrusion, or a chafed connector pigtail will disable automatic close until the sensor is replaced. This is the current service part for the left side; installation involves removing the liftgate inner trim panel, unclipping the old sensor from its channel, seating the new strip, and reconnecting the harness, then cycling or relearning the power liftgate to verify correct stop-and-reverse operation. Confirm the left-hand side, since the right sensor carries a different part number.
