• Description:

  This is a genuine Ford liftgate object sensor, an anti-pinch position sensor for the right-hand side of the power liftgate on the 2018 through 2021 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator. Mounted along the edge of the power liftgate, the sensor detects an obstruction or a person in the closing path and signals the liftgate control module to stop and reverse travel, protecting hands, pets, and cargo from being pinched. It is the passenger-side unit and works together with the opposite left-hand sensor to cover both edges of the gate. Owners replace this sensor when the power liftgate stops partway, reverses for no reason, refuses to close, throws an obstacle-detected or anti-pinch fault, or when the tailgate must be operated manually because the safety system has faulted. A damaged, crushed, or water-intruded sensor, or one with a chafed pigtail, will disable automatic close until replaced. This is the current service part for the right side; installation involves removing the liftgate inner trim, unclipping the old sensor strip, seating the replacement in its channel, and reconnecting the harness, followed by a power liftgate relearn or open-close cycle to confirm normal operation. Confirm the right-hand side, as the left sensor is a separate part number.
