This is a genuine Ford upper connecting rod bearing in the yellow grade (Ford catalog Bearing Connecting Rod) for the 2018-2021 F-150 with the 3.0L Power Stroke V6 diesel. The bearing is a precision-machined half shell that fits the upper side of the connecting rod big end, riding on a film of pressurized oil between the rod and the crankshaft rod journal so the reciprocating assembly turns with minimal friction and correct clearance. A worn, scored or spun rod bearing typically causes a deep rhythmic knock that rises with engine speed, low oil pressure, metal flake in the oil, and in severe cases seizure or a thrown rod. The yellow callout identifies the specific size grade Ford assigns to match journal and rod bore tolerances, so the color grade must correspond to the crankshaft and rod being serviced. This upper shell works with its matching lower shell as a pair on each rod journal. Fitted under part number JL3Z-6211-B and installed with the correct oil clearance, clean journals and fresh assembly lubricant, it restores proper bottom-end bearing support in the 3.0L diesel.
