  This is the genuine Ford Seal for the power transfer unit output shaft on all-wheel-drive equipped 2018 through 2022 Ford EcoSport models. Cataloged as an input or transfer case output shaft seal this radial lip seal rides against the rotating output shaft where it exits the power transfer unit and retains gear lubricant while keeping road contaminants dust and water out of the driveline. A worn or hardened seal is a common source of a slow gear oil leak that shows up as fluid film or drips at the PTU or along the front driveshaft area. Left unaddressed the resulting low lubricant level can lead to bearing and gear noise excessive heat and eventual PTU damage which is far more costly to repair than a seal. Drivers often notice a small oil spot under the vehicle a burning smell after driving or a whine from the transfer unit.
