• Description:

  This is the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank assembly for 2018 through 2022 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty trucks equipped with the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel engine. It supersedes the earlier HC3Z-5J250-B and HC3Z-5J250-D. The tank is part of the diesel emission reduction system; it holds the DEF fluid that is injected upstream of the SCR catalyst to reduce NOx emissions. Use this part when the original tank is cracked, leaking, contaminated, or has failed an emissions test diagnostic. This part covers both chassis cab and pickup configurations, including aft-of-axle fuel tank applications on the pickup. Note that this is the 6.7L Power Stroke version specifically; 6.2L gas trucks and 7.3L gas trucks do not have a DEF system and do not use this part. The replacement procedure typically requires draining the original DEF, lowering the tank from the chassis (a heavy and awkward job that often benefits from a transmission jack), and reconnecting the heater, level sensor, and fluid lines.
