• Description:

  This is a genuine Ford ignition coil boot for the 18-23 F-150 equipped with the 3.3L V6. The boot is the flexible high-voltage insulator that connects the coil-on-plug coil to the spark plug terminal, sealing against high-voltage tracking, oil intrusion from the plug well, and contamination that can otherwise produce intermittent misfires. The boot incorporates an internal spring contact that bridges from the coil tower to the spark plug terminal and a silicone or EPDM rubber sleeve that insulates against the cylinder head metal. Boots are wear items that degrade through heat cycling, ozone exposure, and the constant flexing of coil installation and removal. Symptoms of a failed boot include cylinder-specific misfire codes, audible ticking from arcing, oil contamination in the plug well that may indicate a separate valve cover or plug tube seal problem, and inability of the coil to fully seat against the spark plug. Always replace the boot when replacing the spark plug or coil if there is any sign of cracking, hardening, or carbon tracking on the interior surfaces. The genuine boot carries the correct dielectric strength and dimensional fit for the coil tower and plug terminal; non-OEM substitutes sometimes use lower-grade rubber that cracks prematurely under-hood heat. This listing covers the individual boot only and does not include the coil, the spark plug, or the spring contact unless explicitly noted. Apply a thin layer of dielectric grease to the inside of the new boot for easier future service.
