  This genuine Ford starter motor is the electric cranking motor for the 2018-2023 Mustang equipped with the 2.3L EcoBoost four cylinder turbocharged engine. The starter engages its pinion gear with the flywheel ring gear to spin the engine over for starting, drawing high current through the solenoid to throw the drive and close the main contacts. A failing starter shows up as a click without cranking, slow or labored cranking, an intermittent no start that comes and goes with heat, or a grinding noise when the drive fails to mesh cleanly with the ring gear. This unit is a direct replacement built to the factory torque, gear reduction and mounting specification for the 2.3L Mustang so it clears the exhaust and bellhousing and indexes correctly to the ring gear.
