• Description:

  This is the genuine Ford clutch pressure plate and disc set for the manual-transmission 2018 through 2023 Mustang with the 5.0L V8, cataloged by Ford as a Clutch Pressure Plate And Disc Set and supplied with the disc included. The pressure plate bolts to the flywheel and uses its diaphragm spring to clamp the friction disc against the flywheel face, transmitting engine torque to the transmission, while the disc provides the wearing friction surface that allows smooth engagement and clean disengagement. Together they let the driver couple and uncouple engine power for starting off and shifting. As the set wears, the friction material thins and the clamp force weakens, producing clutch slip under load, shudder or chatter on take-up, a high or grabby pedal, or difficulty getting the clutch to fully release. A worn disc can also leave a burning smell during hard launches. Replacing the set with the correct Ford part restores full clamping force and a fresh friction surface for proper power transfer.
