This supercharger adapter gasket is the dealer service part for Mustang 5.0L applications equipped with a supercharger. The gasket seals between the supercharger adapter plate and the engine intake mating surface, preventing pressurized intake charge from leaking past the joint. Note that this gasket is included with the adapter when a complete supercharger or adapter is ordered; this individual gasket service is for situations where the adapter is being reinstalled without replacement and a fresh gasket is required. Replacement is essential whenever the supercharger or adapter has been removed for service since the gasket takes a permanent set under clamping load and will not re-seal reliably on second installation. Installation requires both mating surfaces to be cleaned of all old gasket material and any oil film, the gasket positioned with the correct orientation against the adapter and engine, and the adapter fasteners torqued in Ford's specified sequence and final value. A failed gasket allows boost leakage that shows up as a power loss, intake whistle, and increased intake air temperature.
