• Description:

  This upper connecting rod bearing half is the dealer service part for 18-23 Mustang 5.0L Coyote Gen 3 and 18-23 F-150 5.0L applications. The bearing sits between the connecting rod and the crankshaft journal, supporting the rod's reciprocating motion against the crankshaft's rotation. Bearings are sold individually per half; a complete rod requires both this upper half and its lower companion JR3Z-6211-B, and a complete eight-cylinder engine requires eight pairs. Bearings are a wear part — once removed they should not be reused because the running surface has conformed to the crankshaft and the rod, and reinstallation in a slightly different position alters the conformance and accelerates wear. Crankshaft journals must be measured against Ford's specified diameter and clearance before reassembly; bearings cannot compensate for an out-of-spec journal. Installation requires careful attention to the locating tang on each bearing half to ensure correct seating in the rod and rod cap. Verify oil clearance using Plastigauge or equivalent before final assembly.
