• Description:

  This front bumper energy absorber is the foam structural insert for 18-23 Mustang 2.3L EcoBoost and 5.0L without the Mach 1 package. The absorber sits between the bumper reinforcement bar and the outer bumper cover, distributing impact loads across the structure and absorbing energy from low-speed collisions before the loads reach the radiator support and frame rails. This service number supersedes the original -A suffix. Replacement is essential whenever the bumper has been disturbed in a collision — the absorber takes a permanent set under impact and will not perform a second time at the same impact level. Reusing a previously crushed absorber compromises the entire bumper system's federal compliance. Installation requires the bumper cover and reinforcement bar to be removed, the absorber positioned against the reinforcement bar with the molded ribs facing forward, and the bumper cover reinstalled. Do not modify the absorber dimensions or remove material to clear non-OEM components; doing so defeats the energy-absorption design.
