This is a genuine Ford driveshaft flex coupling, the flexible rubber-and-fabric disc, often called a giubo or flex joint, that connects the transmission output to the driveshaft and transmits torque while absorbing driveline shock, angular misalignment, and vibration for a smooth quiet launch. It fits the 2018-2023 Ford Mustang GT with the 5.0L Coyote V8 and the manual transmission, in the configuration without the Dark Horse package, and the Ford catalog name is Coupling Assy Drive Shaft. Drivers who need this part usually feel a clunk or shudder on hard acceleration or when taking up driveline lash, notice a vibration at speed, or hear a rubbery slapping noise, and on inspection the coupling shows cracked, split, or oil-swollen rubber and elongated bolt holes. Replacing a failed flex coupling restores smooth power delivery and eliminates the launch clunk. This joint uses single-use torque-to-yield fasteners; the mounting bolts and nuts must not be reused and must be replaced with new hardware and tightened to the specified torque in the correct sequence to keep the joint balanced and secure.
