This radiator support upper air deflector is the dealer service unit for 18-23 Mustang 5.0L and 2.3L EcoBoost applications without the active grille shutter option. The deflector sits at the top of the radiator support and directs airflow downward through the cooling stack rather than allowing it to escape over the top of the radiator. Vehicles equipped with the active grille shutter use a different combination of airflow management components. Replacement is needed when the deflector has cracked, when retaining fasteners have loosened and the deflector has come loose, or when a previous repair removed the deflector but did not reinstall it. The deflector is molded plastic and ships in factory finish. Installation uses the factory mounting points on the radiator support upper crossmember. A missing deflector reduces the cooling system's effectiveness during sustained operation by allowing incoming air to bypass the radiator over the top. Verify proper seating after installation.
