  This is the Genuine Ford cylinder head temperature sensor used across the 18-25 Ford lineup including F-150 5.0L, 3.3L, 3.5L EcoBoost, and other modular and EcoBoost engines that report head temperature to the PCM rather than legacy coolant temperature alone. The sensor threads into a pocket drilled in the cylinder head and returns a temperature signal that the engine controller uses for fueling, spark, knock margin, fan strategy, and overheat protection. A failed or drifting CHT sensor can cause cold-start enrichment problems, lean codes, hard hot restarts, and incorrect cooling fan behavior, and a tip that has corroded in the head can read offset enough to trigger driveability complaints without throwing a hard code. This Genuine Ford part is the calibrated thermistor element and connector that the original engine map expects. Replacement is a quick mechanical operation when the head pocket is accessible, with care to torque only to the published value to avoid cracking the boss. Use a small amount of fresh coolant film on the threads if specified, and clear stored adaptive memory after replacement so the controller relearns short-term fuel trim against the new sensor reading.
