  This is a genuine Ford front instrument panel speaker for the 18-25 F-150, Explorer, Ranger, and Edge. The speaker is the small-diameter driver installed in the instrument panel area, providing the upper frequency reproduction that complements the door-mounted speakers in the truck's audio system. Speaker failure modes include voice coil damage from chronic over-driving or amplifier failure, cone or surround deterioration from age and temperature exposure, broken speaker terminals or magnet structure from impact during installation, and contamination ingress that fouls the voice coil and produces buzz or no output. Symptoms include silent or distorted output from the affected speaker position, intermittent operation that responds to vibration, audible buzz or rattle during certain frequencies, and degraded stereo imaging in the front sound stage. Before condemning a speaker, verify amplifier output at the speaker connector and check the speaker's coil resistance against the original specification.
