• Description:

  This is the Genuine Ford variable cam timing phaser for the 5.0L Coyote V8 in 18-25 F-150 and matching Mustang applications. The phaser bolts to the nose of a camshaft and is the hydraulic actuator that the PCM commands through the variable cam timing solenoid to advance or retard cam position based on engine map and operating conditions. Internally it carries a stator and rotor with oil galleries that move the rotor relative to the chain sprocket. Coyote phasers are precision parts that wear at the locking pin, vanes, and oil control faces, and worn phasers are a common cause of a metallic rattle on cold start, of P0011 / P0014 / P0016 family codes, and of poor low-end response. Replacement is done with the front cover open as part of a timing service, with the cam phaser timed to the chain marks and torqued to the engineered value. This part ships as an assembled unit ready to install along with the chain, guides, tensioners, VCT solenoid, and other timing components. Use new bolts where specified and verify oil pressure and quality before commanding new phaser operation.
