• Description:

  This is a Genuine Ford timing chain guide for the 5.0L Coyote V8 engine used in 18-25 F-150 and matching Mustang applications. It is the driver-side guide that supports and locates the primary timing chain along its tensioned run, holding chain motion against the engineered profile so that the cam phasers stay in command range and the chain does not slap against the inner cover. The guide body is glass-filled nylon over a steel back and is sized to a tight tolerance against the chain side plates so that the chain rides smoothly without polishing into the guide. Coyote timing components are wear items. A guide that has cracked, lost a chunk along its wear face, or developed a stress fracture at a mounting tab is an immediate priority because failure can put cam timing out of range, set chain stretch and phaser correlation codes, and in severe cases drop a chain. Replacement happens with the front cover removed and is normally done as a full timing kit job that includes the chain, tensioners, the opposite guide, and guide arms. Use the Ford-published service sequence and torque values, set crank and cam locks, and verify free rotation by hand before refilling oil.
