  This is the Genuine Ford timing chain tensioner arm for the 5.0L Coyote V8 in 18-25 F-150 and 18-23 Mustang applications. The arm pivots inside the front cover and is the wear surface that the hydraulic tensioner pushes against to keep the primary chain in tension across all operating conditions. It rides directly on the chain back and is engineered with the correct curve, length, and wear coating so that chain travel matches the tuned crank-to-cam relationship for this engine. Coyote tensioner arms are a frequent service item. They polish a wear track on the chain side, eventually develop a step or break the friction layer free, and once free play opens up the engine sounds rattly at idle, the cam phasers fail to hold position, and the PCM logs correlation faults. This part is the OEM service replacement matched to the JL3Z chain set. It is normally replaced together with the chain, guides, tensioner, and phasers as a complete timing job rather than individually, and is installed with the engine front cover removed. Follow the published torque values and timing marks, prime the tensioner before insertion, and verify free rotation before refilling oil and starting the engine.
