This is the genuine Ford ignition coil PB5Z-12029-A for the 2.7L and 3.0L EcoBoost Nano V6 engines, covering applications such as Bronco 3.0L, Edge 2.7L, Explorer 3.0L, Police Interceptor Utility 3.0L, Ranger, F-150, Lincoln Aviator, and Nautilus for builds from late 2018 forward; it supersedes earlier coils including the JT4Z and KT4Z service numbers. The coil converts battery voltage into the high voltage needed to fire the spark plug in a coil-on-plug arrangement. It is built to Ford specification with the correct output, connector, and boot so it delivers consistent spark and fits the plug well and harness. Owners replace a coil when a misfire is traced to it, typically shown by rough idle, hesitation, reduced power, or a cylinder misfire code. Using the genuine coil ensures correct spark energy and a proper seal at the plug.
