This Genuine Ford Motorcraft accessory drive belt tensioner assembly holds correct tension on the serpentine belt that drives the alternator, water pump, and other engine accessories on Ford's 2.0L and 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder engines. It fits a range of 2019-2024 Ford models built with these EcoBoost engines, including the Edge, Explorer, Escape, and Ranger. The spring-loaded tensioner applies steady, self-adjusting load to the belt so it tracks correctly and does not slip as the accessories draw power. Drivers replacing this part are usually chasing a belt squeal or chirp on start-up, a rattling or knocking noise from the front of the engine, visible belt flutter, glazed or cracked belt surfaces, or a noisy pulley bearing that signals the tensioner is losing its spring damping. Because the internal spring and the pulley bearing wear together, Ford supplies and recommends the complete tensioner assembly rather than individual components, and advises inspecting the drive belt during the same service. This Motorcraft unit restores factory spring tension and pulley alignment to original specification. Relieve belt tension with the correct serpentine belt tool before removing the belt, verify routing against the factory diagram on reinstallation, and make sure the pulley spins freely and runs true before returning the vehicle to service.
