The boot is the insulated rubber sleeve that bridges the coil-on-plug ignition coil to the top of the spark plug, sealing the plug well against moisture and oil while carrying the high-voltage spark to the plug terminal. A spring inside the boot maintains the electrical contact between coil and plug.
