The genuine Ford transmission clutch friction plate is an externally-splined friction disc used inside the 8F35 eight-speed front-wheel-drive automatic transmission. It is a factory OEM component for 2019-2025 Ford applications built around the 8F35 and 8F40 transmission family, including the Escape, Edge, Bronco Sport, Maverick, Transit Connect and Lincoln Corsair and Nautilus. The friction plate is part of the transmission's apply clutch pack; its friction material grips the adjacent steel plates when the clutch is applied to transfer torque and control gear engagement. Worn or glazed friction plates can cause clutch slippage, delayed or harsh shifts, shudder, overheating, and stored transmission trouble codes, and are typically replaced as part of a clutch pack rebuild or transmission overhaul. As a genuine Ford part it is manufactured to the correct friction-material specification, thickness, spline count, and outside diameter for this clutch pack, ensuring proper clearance and apply behavior. During rebuild, pre-soak new friction plates in the correct automatic transmission fluid and follow the factory clutch clearance and stack-up specifications.
